The tech, gear and gadgets fueling my projects.

I share my favorite software development tools, gadgets, and gear that I use to build websites and apps. From my preferred coding technologies to my workstation setup and productivity apps, see the tech stack and equipment that fuels my projects and keeps me productive and efficient.

Perfered Technologies

  • Vue 3

Although Vue has a smaller ecosystem than the more established React, I find Vue’s clearer and more intuitive development experience (DX) makes it my framework of choice (FYI: composition over options). I root for the the underdog so supporting a community-driven project is a major plus.

  • Node.js

Using a javascript backend paired with a javascript frontend make my apps easier to understand. Node.js® is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript runtime environment.

  • Firebase

Firebase is my go to because it provides all the tools you need to grow your app quickly and easily, from managing authentication and database, to your backend with cloud functions . Not to mention budget friendly to spin up a MVP.

  • Netlify

Netlify is amazing for hosting my websites. Netlify makes continuous deployment quick and easy, especially when my project is a Next.js or Nuxt.js project. Vercel is also a great solution that i would like to use more often.

  • Capacitor

Capacitor is a great way to spin up an app and offer it in The App Store and Google Play. When working on a budget using Capacitor is a great choice to open up marketing channels and staying productive due to the fact that one code base is used.

  • Tailwind CSS

As I mentioned staying organized is extremely important so having a well documented project like Tailwind is great. Tailwind is a utility-first CSS framework for rapidly building modern websites without ever leaving your HTML.

Workstation

  • 13” MacBook Pro, M1, 16GB Unified Memory (2021)

I was using an Intel-based 13” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I’ve never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the incredibly heavy loads I put it through with our various launch simulations.

  • Apple Pro Display XDR (Standard Glass)

The only display on the market if you want the most crisp display imaginable.

  • Logitech MX Mechanical Keyboard

I like the feel of a mechanical keyboard, the way the keys are pronounced. I also like the way the keys fly when you smash a mechanical keyboard.

  • Logitech MX Master 3S for Mac

Something about all the gestures makes me feel like a wizard with special powers. I really like feeling like a wizard with special powers.

  • Herman Miller Sayl Chair

When I slouch, I slouch in style, with the most expensive and hyped chair I could find. All jokes aside the Sayl Chair is great, I could most likely find a more comfortable chair but hey...

Development tools

  • WebStorm

I find WebStorm to be have a better user experience (UX) than the popular Visual Studio. An hey what’s $7 a month.

  • Hello Ava

Who doesn’t want an assistant that is fast, smart and up to the task 24/7. This OpenAI Chat wrapper helps me stay organized with various prompts and models for turbo productivity.

Design

  • Figma

Let me be clear I do not like to design and would much rather have a designer, a real designer provide me with assets to build. With that said I have a great eye for style and detail so in a pinch I started using Figma. It’s become my favorite design tool..
